About .ASIA domains

.asia is the regional top-level domain for Asia and the Pacific, run by the non-profit DotAsia Organisation; registrants need a connection to the region, but not an address there.

DotAsia Organisation, a non-profit founded in Hong Kong, launched .asia in 2007, and general registration opened in March 2008. Besides Latin-script names, the registry offers Chinese, Japanese and Korean internationalized names, available on a first-come, first-served basis since June 2012.

Every registration is covered by the .ASIA Charter Eligibility Requirement, which ties the domain to the Asia-Pacific community. The zone is DNSSEC-signed, and the backend registry service is provided by Identity Digital.

Disputes about eligibility are handled under the Charter Eligibility Dispute Resolution Policy (CEDRP), which every registrant agrees to.
